Your employer must issue a Poland work permit for you. A Poland work permit (like a residence permit) is issued by the Voivodeship Office where your employer is located. A Poland work permit entitles the foreigner to work only for the specific employer specified in the work permit.

Polish legislation provides for different types of visas. A visa in Poland may vary depending on the period of validity (from 3 months to 5 years), the number of travel authorizations (single entry, double entry, multiple entry) and the grounds for its issuance (tourist visa, student visa, Poland work visa and others).

Depending on the purpose of travel, there are the following types of visa:

• Short-term Schengen Visa C (this visa is issued once, twice or multiple times. This visa is issued for the period of validity, not more than 90 days in a period of 6 months). This visa is issued not only for Belarusians, Ukrainians, Moldovans, but also for Asians, such as: Filipinos, Indians, etc.
• Schengen visa, the validity of which is limited for stay in the territory, “LTV”.
• Transit Airport Schengen Visa “A”.
• Long-term National Visa D (entitles you to stay in Poland during the period of validity of the national visa, in addition to staying in the territory of other Schengen countries and this visa to Poland is issued for a maximum period of validity of up to 90 days during each 180-day period, in a calendar year, which is counted from the date of entry into the countries of the agreement). Remember that a tick visa to Poland cannot exceed a validity period of more than 1 year.

Schengen visa to Poland (type “C”)

The Schengen Visa is valid in the Schengen Area and allows its holder to stay in the territory of all Schengen Area Member Countries for a maximum of 90 days during a 180-day period.

Refusal to issue a visa to Poland may occur for the following reasons:

• inclusion in the list of persons whose stay in Poland is undesirable,
• negative opinion of visa authorities who consider that your stay in the country may pose a threat to national defense or security or to public safety, order and health.

  When applying for a national visa to Poland, the foreigner has submitted:

• the visa application form contains incorrect personal data, false information, or submitted documents with such inaccuracies,
• untruthful statements or the concealment of truth during the visa application process, including forging or altering a document for use as authentic,
• failure to substantiate the purpose or conditions of the planned stay,
• reasonable doubts concerning the intention to leave the territory of the Republic of Poland before the visa expiration date,
• a refusal to issue a visa in Poland by the consul is presented in the form of a decision

If there is a decision to refuse this type of visa, an appeal can be made to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

As a member of the European Union (EU), Poland allows citizens of other EU member states to work without the need for a work permit. However, for most individuals from outside the EU, obtaining a Poland work visa is necessary, along with a work permit.

When applying for a visa, a foreign citizen must provide documentation of the availability of funds. How much?

A foreigner entering the territory of the Republic of Poland must have at least:

1) 300 PLN if the duration of the planned stay does not exceed 4 days,

2) 75 PLN for each day of the planned stay, if the planned stay exceeds 4 days.

– accommodation during the stay in the territory,

– return travel to the country of origin or residence,

– transit through this territory to a third country that authorizes entry;

and the documents

– that can prove the possibility of obtaining these funds in accordance with the law, as well as the purpose and duration of the foreigner’s intended stay.

If you obtain an annual visa based on employment, you will need to document approximately 27,500 PLN.

When valid, the Polish residence permit confirms the identity of a foreigner during their stay in the Republic of Poland. It also entitles them, when accompanied by a travel document, to cross the border multiple times without the need for a visa.
